Circa 1720. Louis XV, Rococo. The Italian sculptor Dio spent nearly a year carving this masterpiece, faithfully executing the Louis XV dictum of no right angles. Every curve is a compound curve and the shells and leaves are elaborately detailed. Formal and full sized, this mantel becomes the focal point of a room.
